City of Landrum
100 North Shamrock Avenue
Landrum, South Carolina 29356
Office hours are:
Monday through Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm
We’re just a few winks away from one of the biggest Christmas parades the City of Landrum has ever had! Here are a few reminders:
*THERE IS ONLY ONE SANTA! HE WILL BE AT THE END OF THE PARADE! PLEASE DO NOT CONFUSE OUR CHILDREN. We sincerely appreciate it.
*Line-up begins at 5:00pm. TRADE AVENUE, EAST RUTHERFORD TO REDLAND ROAD WILL BE CLOSED DOWN BY POLICE PROMPTLY AT 5:30pm!!!!
*NO PARKING in front of shops on East Rutherford after 4:00pm. Police will ask you to move your vehicle.
*Please follow “Parade Line-Up Ahead” signs as you travel down Highway 176 towards Tryon. You will be able to turn right across the railroad tracks onto Trade Avenue near Greenwood Street to line-up.
*Do not attempt to turn in front of the Landrum Depot. Road will be blocked. The Landrum High School Cardinal Pride Marching Band & LHSJRROTC will be the only ones allowed to unload at the depot.
*Please load floats or vehicles before coming to the line-up. There will be two rows lining up on Trade Avenue and no vehicles will be allowed to enter to unload people who are riding in the parade. You may meet up somewhere, load up, and then come over to the parade line-up. (*You may also use the field across from the Farmers Market Pavilion to meet & load up*)
*If you would like to ride behind a friend or group, YOU MUST COME IN TOGETHER for the line-up. We will not be able to get you past anyone in the line-up.
*When lining up, we will ask that you pull close to the vehicle in front of you. We have over 120 entries, we want to make sure there are no gaps.
*HORSES may gather in the side parking lot at the Landrum Fire Department. Due to many walkers in the parade, we will send horses into the parade just before Santa. It worked out well last year. Thank you for understanding. Spectators love your horses! We are excited to have you!
*Candy CAN be given out, we just ask that it is not thrown from floats/vehicles due to dangerous situations and the possibility of children darting out into the street to retrieve dropped candy. There have been other towns who have had children injured during parades. We want to make sure we have a safe and fun-filled event.
*Parade will end at Landrum Middle School.
*There will be detours(see attached map, it’s been posted for weeks so that you may prepare for an alternate route)
*We have over 120 entries, the parade will last approximately 45 minutes.
*There may be some Grinches present so…..here’s some positive thoughts: Please be patient, maybe pack a snack, please listen to the police officers, and last but not least, try to dig deep for a little bit of that holiday cheer!
*It’s a small town, it’s Christmas, and we love it here!
Thank you for understanding!
Can’t wait to see all of the smiling faces glistening in LANDRUM LIGHTS as we, maybe, for just a moment, enjoy the MAGIC OF THE HOLIDAY SEASON!
