NEW LANDRUM FARMERS MARKET SETTING LOCAL RECORDS

The new Landrum Farmers Market location has hit record breaking attendance since it opened in May.

According to Tricia Taber, Landrum’s Public Relations and Marketing Director, “The new Landrum Farmers Market Pavilion building has contributed to attracting a record number of vendors and visitors.” Lisa Gunter, the market’s volunteer manager, emphasized that the success of the market is that the market functions as a “producer’s market”. All vendors certify in writing that they “grow, cook or produce their product themselves.” This requirement ensures the local authenticity and high quality of the produce offered to the visitors.

Gunter added, “We are pleased that the new site has been the place to go for area farmers.  We have more farmers than the new pavilion can accommodate, and the market is exploring options to accommodate additional vendors beyond the new building.”

The market will continue to operate every Saturday morning from 8:00 a.m. to noon through the end of October at 221 W. Rutherford Street. Options are being considered for a winter farmers market after the regular late October closing date.
