UPDATE ON WATER LINE BREAK IN LANDRUM

By City of Landrum  |  March 17, 2023  |  Featured News

A water line break occurred on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at approximately 12:55pm near 410 East Rutherford Road (Highway 14) in front of the Wells Fargo Bank.

Appling Boring Company bored into an 8” cast iron water main. Appling was performing boring work for Greer CPW (gas) and hit a Spartanburg Water line.

As a result, the water main failed, causing 8 residences to lose water. These residences were placed under a boil water advisory. The water line was repaired by 7:45pm on Tuesday evening and a 6ft section of 8 inch pipe was replaced.

A temporary road repair was made on Thursday, March 16, 2023. Concrete was poured and Spartanburg Water is currently installing temporary asphalt patches today to open that lane back up before the weekend.  There is a 10’ x 12’ section and 6 pothole sections to verify compaction to be covered as well.

Paving will be performed using an outside contractor. We are anticipating completing the final road repair by the week of March 20, 2023.
