New Landrum City Administrator, Baldwin Takes the Helm
The City of Landrum is pleased to officially announce the hiring of Shannon Baldwin as the new city administrator. The city was seeking an energetic and visionary leader with strong collaboration skills to serve with a supportive City Council in sharing a bold vision for Landrum’s future.
City officials conducted an extensive hiring process as they searched for a new administrator. Baldwin made it to the top of a talented pool of candidates and is exceptionally well-qualified with nearly 30 years of experience.
Baldwin possesses skills in advanced administrative and professional development including planning, zoning, finance, and public works. He is proficient in directing departments and functions to ensure effective, efficient municipal operations.
Baldwin grew up in Hendersonville, NC, worked on his family’s small farm and has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science/Business from Clemson University along with a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Clemson University. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Beth and they have two children, Will and Anna. Baldwin enjoys traveling, reading, hiking, church, and spending time with his family. Baldwin said, “I’m excited about being in Landrum and getting to know the community, its people, and local businesses.”
Mayor Briggs shared, “Landrum is extremely fortunate to have Shannon as our next city administrator. His prior experience in small towns such as Lake Lure, Banner Elk, and Highlands, NC while they experienced transitions in growth will be invaluable to Landrum. As we move forward with projects such as Rails to Trails, smart development, and other city improvement plans, ensuring that it benefits Landrum’s current citizens as well as future citizens and business owners will be vital to our community.”
The City of Landrum will host a meet & greet at the historic Landrum Depot on April 29, 2025 from 5:00pm-7:00pm.
