AIRING OF THE QUILTS

AIRING OF THE QUILTS WILL TAKE PLACE ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 17, 2024 from 9:00am-2:00pm on North Trade Avenue in downtown Landrum, SC.

Airing of the Quilts is a tradition that dates back centuries. Ladies would make quilts out of scraps of material and clothing as a necessity to keep their families warm. In the warmth of spring and summer, they would hang their quilts to air out in the bright sun so they would be fresh when the cold, winter nights approached.

You don’t want to miss out on this stunning display of quilts!

Special guest performance by The Dolcimer Group during the airing.

DRUG AWARENESS: FIGHTING THE DRUG EPIDEMIC: COMMUNITY MEETING

Fighting the Epidemic: Raising Awareness. Saving Lives

This community event will provide several resources for the purpose in raising awareness about the drug epidemic, substance abuse, mental health, and to help save lives.
The following groups will be on site sharing various materials in order to help educate the community by providing information for drug awareness: Favor Upstate of Spartanburg, Regenesis of Spartanburg,  the Forrester Center of Spartanburg, Carolina Center for Behavioral Health Greenville, and the Well Recovery-Landrum along with local Law Enforcement and State Representatives. You don’t have to be struggling with addiction or have a family member that is struggling. These resources will be beneficial for those who also want to learn more about addiction and how it affects their lives. With this community-based prevention approach, the City of Landrum is committed in helping try to eliminate substance use and abuse. It is essential for us to promote the importance of prevention and its role in ensuring the health and safety of our community.

Be sure to come out to the Cunningham Market Pavilion located at 221 West Rutherford Street, Landrum, SC on Sunday, April 21, 2024 from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Please bring a folding chair.

JOE CUNNINGHAM JR. MARKET PAVILION

JOE CUNNINGHAM JR. MARKET PAVILION

A new sign now adorns the Landrum Farmers Market Pavilion. It will be known as the Joe Cunningham Jr. Market Pavilion.
Mr. Cunningham was one of the founders of the Landrum Farmers Market. After many years of local farmers selling and trading goods on North Trade Avenue, it was his dream to construct a permanent building to accommodate the vendors at the market.
In 2022, the City of Landrum opened a new pavilion that now serves as a permanent home for the Farmers Market. The facility contributes to our agricultural and economic development, while enhancing community engagement as well as providing visitor appeal to Landrum.
Mr. Cunningham passed away on July 12, 2023 but his memory will live on in our hearts, every time we step through the doors of the Joe Cunningham Jr. Market Pavilion. The opening date for this year’s Farmers Market is Saturday, April 6, 2024 from 8:00am-12:00pm.
